Happy Valentine’s Day

I want to share with you an SMS I recieved today. It read “Friends please don’t copy from foriegners. Only we Indians celebrate Raksha Bandhan and none other countries do the same. Then why the hell do we celebrate Valentine’s Day? Wake up Indians! True love can be expressed on any day. Needn’t be Valentine’s Day only. Please forward”. This is what the SMS (from one of my contacts) had to say.

Now I have many replies to that SMS. First of all… I’m a free person. If I want to copy Western culture or Arab Culture, eat cockroaches instead of chicken, so be it! I have the right… who the %&*@ are you to stop me!
Indian’s don’t copy from foreigners? We speak in English during Filmfare and Screen Awards; our Parliament sessions are in English! The clothes we usually were is tshirt and jeans, not kurtha pyjama, and that’s what makes ‘traditional days’ so special in schools and colleges.
The reason why other countries don’t celebrate Raksha Bandhan is their problem! Why do we need them to copy us, when we like their culture? If they do take part in our culture, we should feel happy. And infact, they do… they love our classical music, ancient traditions, the “Namaste” and so many othe things… not just these “days”!!!
Oh… and about celebrating love on all days instead of just valentine’s day. Why the hell do you celebrate Birthdays then??? Let’s celebrate life everyday!!!
NOW FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE.

And yes, all you fellow-indians reading this must have already got the name Pramod Muthalik in your heads. Well, he’s the main character of the blog post. He plays… the LOSER!!! I don’t want to put his blackened face (grease… or no grease, he’s blackened for life after last year’s pub attacks) picture here and spoil this blog post. That’s why I’ve used the picture of what really matters most… and that is love.

If any one of you disagree even slightly to my reply or agree even slightly with that SMS above, I have to tell you one thing… LOVE IS UNIVERSAL… and it should be celebrated on Valentine’s Day, Valentine’s Week and Valentine’s Month! So shut the ^&%* up and mind your own boring business!

Love is beautiful, love is divine… Happy Valentine’s Day to all you in love and those waiting for love to come their way… Cheers…

Sorry… I had been on a break for a while now. I’m a bit busy with the arrangements and preparations for my department fest in my college, ZEST 2010 http://www.zest2010.com/. I will be back to regular posting on both my blogs from now.

Here are some interesting facts about Bangalore from a forward I recieved through mail.

1. Bangalore has the impeccable record of highest growth within a span of 20 Years.

2. Bangalore has highest number of pubs in Asia.

3. Bangalore has highest number of cigarette smokers in India.

4. Bangalore has the highest number of software companies in India-212, followed by Hyderabad – 108, Pune – 97. Hence called the Silicon Valley of India.

Ovi Suite from Nokia

If you are the owner of a Nokia phone, then you must have surely heard about the Nokia PC Suite. But Nokia has come out with a brand new version of it… the Ovi Suite. I love it! Its just so much better than the PC Suite in performance and in looks! Well, to be honest, whenever I purchase or use a software, or any other device, I first go for its looks! The Ovi Suite has one of the best user interfaces I’ve ever seen! It has an aero-tranparency-like feature, just as what you see in Windows Vista or Windows 7, along with easy sliding from one page to another… easy updation, with action bar etc….

Once you connect your Nokia Phone to the Ovi through bluetooth or cable, the Suite takes care of everything! Its like a spa for your phone. You can sycronize you contacts, photos, messages, music, calendar and even notes. You will have to adjust your settings on how and at what times you would want to sync. You can add/remove photos using the suite, manage the contacts and even send and recieve messages. The best part of this is Ovi’s music manager… you must get this if you constantly keep updating your song list on your phone. Check it out here: http://musicstore.nokia.com/

Plus, Ovi maps is nice feature to try out http://maps.ovi.com/ . I don’t think its applicable to all the phones, but surely to all the high-end ones. Never tried that out, because its not available on my model. Once you have the Suite you can visit the store at https://store.ovi.com/ and download damn good applications for your phone. There are some applications which can be used to update your facebook, twitter status etc. Trust me, there’s a lot you can do with these mobile applications, especially if you use your phone for internet purposes too! Here’s a glimpse:

You must already be knowing be knowing about the Nokia Game World at http://www.n-gage.com. I’m not much of a gamer when it comes to cell phones… but PC… yes I am! And the best part of Ovi is the Ovi Mail http://ovi.emailwithease.com/. Apart from the regular mail features like inbox, compose etc, you have all the features of the Ovi Suite right there on the internet in your Ovi Mail Account. You have to sync your phone with the mail (which is very easy… just follow the steps on the site) and then you can update your contacts, emails, photos, and anything that is connected to your phone, right on the internet, on the go! So when you return to your computer for email and other stuff, all your contacts etc are already updated in your account.
